Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has said the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, was corrupt and in the habit of abusing women when he was the governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Atiku said this during an interview with Adesua Giwa, monitored by our correspondent.
This comes amid a sexual harassment allegation levelled against Akpabio by the suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
According Atiku, "Not only he was corrupt, he was also in the habit of abusing women."
Atiku also stated that he was not surprised that the National Assembly passed the State of Emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers.
He said, "No, I was not surprised because I know the leadership is corrupt, and I have no apologies about that and they could do anything And the Senate President is known actually to be having this type of character even when he was a governor."
The former VP also spoke about the merger talks between political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
"We had a similar merger in 2014, you know and there was about four of us or is it two or three.. We all ran for President and one of us emerged and we all supported the one who emerged and he won. I have not seen Nigeria in dire need of, you know, of an experienced and credible leadership than this time," he said.
