Socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has stated that she will oppose any presidential ticket that includes Peter Obi as the vice presidential candidate.

Yesufu, a chieftain of the Labour Party made this known in response to widespread reports of a potential merger between the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a recently surfaced video, Yesufu praised Peter Obi as the ideal leader to guide Nigeria out of its economic struggles, emphasizing his empathy and concern for the Nigerian people.

"If Peter Obi is running with anyone as the Vice President of that one and he is a running mate to that person, me, Aisha Yesufu in my little capacity, I will work against that ticket. If that is the only thing I do it is to work against that particular ticket," she said.

"Because what is this? Why are we always asking the best to be second? Peter Obi right now if you talk about empathy and somebody who cares, we are not saying he is a messiah, we are not saying he knows everything because he doesnt, but we are saying he cares and he listens. That is what we want. We want a leader that will care," she concluded.

She further accused the PDP of thinking they ought to be in the seat of power without working hard for it.

"The PDP believes they belong to the villa and are not ready to put in the work. If PDP had given Peter Obi the ticket in 2023, the way citizens were begging them, they wouldn't be here. They would have been the party in power but then also Peter Obi would have had to deal with the shenanigans of that party and everything," she said.

Recall that Peter Obi said he is open to a potential merger with the PDP in an interview on Noire TV-Global Black TV.

Speaking on the possibility of being supported as a southeast candidate in the 2027 presidential election by Atiku Abubakar, Obi appreciated Atiku’s gesture.

Obi said: “I commend him. And I’m grateful for his statements. Especially where he said he will support me if it (the presidential ticket) goes to the South-East.”

The Labour Party candidate noted that his primary concern is not personal ambition or political maneuvering, but rather the well-being of Nigeria and its people.

He said, “I’m not desperate to be president. I’m desperate to see Nigeria work, especially for the poor people because we have a lot of potential.”
