Activist, Aisha Yesufu has tackled the Department of State Services, DSS for their failure to apprehend terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits.
She stated that their inability has contributed to the hunger in the country, leading Nigerians to protest.
Yesufu urged the DSS to focus their resources on gathering intelligence about unknown gunmen and terrorists.
She made this statement after the DSS claimed they had uncovered the sponsors of the planned nationwide protests against the bad governance in Nigeria.
In a statement on Thursday, July 25, 2024, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, described the protest’s motive as a political move and warned organisers not to proceed.
The agency stated that they had uncovered a plan by some criminal elements to hijack the protest and cause unrest in the country.
However, Yesufu dismissed their claim in a post on X on Friday, July 26, 2024.
She said: “DSS should counsel itself on its failure to gather intelligence on the terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and unknown gunmen that have terrorized the nation and forced farmers to flee their farms which has greatly contributed to the hunger in the land.”
Nigerians have announced plans to embark on a nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 to August 10, 2024. This is a call to the government to address the hardship in the country.
