Aisha Buhari donates 16 trucks of relief materials to Kano residents

The Wife of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has donated 16 trucks of relief materials to Kano residents to support people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The relief materials which consists of food items such as rice, spaghetti, milk, and cooking oil will be distributed to 500,000 households in the state.

Mrs Buhari, who made the donation through her foundation, ‘Future Assured’, also donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Kano State Government.

Special Assistant to Mrs. Buhari on Administration, Alhaji Hadi Uba, said on Monday in Kano that the will be distributed to the needy by the foundation in collaboration with the state government.

“And these food items will be distributed to about 500,000 households in the state.

"Some of the drugs and preventive materials will be kept at Aisha Buhari Hospital, while some will be given to hospitals for onward distribution to the public.

"We donated 300,000 surgical gloves, 300,000 face masks, 300,000 cartons of hand sanitizer, 10 automatic dispensers and protective gowns among other things," he said.

Kano State's Commissioner for Information, Mr Muhammad Garba, commended Mrs. Buhari's efforts and assured of proper distribution of the items to those it was meant for.

"We assure you that we are going to be transparent in distributing these items, and we are going to continue to sensitise the people of Kano on the effects of the Coronavirus," he said.[TodayNG]

Nigeria has confirmed a total of 1273 cases of coronavirus as of Sunday night, with about 40 deaths. Kano state has the third-highest cases in the country with 77 infections and one death, according to the NCDC.
