The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has stated that former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai is in its custody.
In a statement on Thursday, the anti-graft agency said El-Rufai was taken into custody on Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 2026.
According to J. Okor Odey, the Head Media and Public Communications /Spokesperson, ICPC, "Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the Commission in connection with investigations."
MyNigeria earlier reported that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) took El-Rufai into custody after the former governor spent two nights with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Multiple sources said el-Rufai was picked up from the EFCC headquarters in Abuja by the secret police.
Insiders said during his questioning at the anti-graft agency, investigators made several attempts to obtain a written statement from the former governor, but he repeatedly declined to provide one.
