Renowned hurdler, Tobi Amusan, faced a disqualification scare but ultimately triumphed to claim gold at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Despite a false start in the women's 100-metre hurdle final, the Nigerian superstar managed to avoid disqualification, receiving a yellow card instead.

Seizing the opportunity, she delivered a stellar performance, crossing the finish line with a time of 12.89 seconds, as noted by the African Games.

Affectionately known as the 'Tobi Express', Amusan, though not her usual lightning-fast self out of the blocks, quickly regained momentum.

The Nigerian initially faced stiff competition from Madagascar's Fiadanantsoa Sidonie but surged ahead after the 50m mark, successfully defending her title.

Sidonie secured the silver medal with a time of 13.19 seconds, while Ashley Tinashe Kamangirira from Zimbabwe claimed the bronze.

Highlighting Tobi's supremacy on the continent, she has now secured a hat-trick of 100m hurdles African Games titles, triumphing in the event at the past two editions in Congo Brazzaville 2015 and Rabat 2019, per the Daily Post.
