Africa's COVID-19 toll rises above 99,000

Africa has now recorded more than 99,000 cases of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in 53 countries in the continent.

According to previous report by MyNigeria.com, Lesotho became the country in the continent to record cases of the respiratory virus after announcing the country's index case on 13th of May.

According to the latest data by the John Hopkins University and Africa Center for Disease Control on COVID-19 in Africa, there are now a total of at least 99,977.

The data also revealed that there are now 3,095 deaths and recoveries of at least 39,336 across the continent.

As of 7:00am May 22, there were a total of 57,546 active cases still left in Africa.
