Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has mocked a former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, for saying President Bola Tinubu won't be re-elected in 2027.
El-Rufai had ruled out the possibility of a Tinubu re-election, saying those who believe otherwise must be living in a different country.
“Anybody that thinks it is possible for President Bola Tinubu to get re-elected is living in another country, not Nigeria. It is impossible for Bola Tinubu to get re-elected," he said.
Reacting, Adeyanju stated that El-Rufai's words reek of the arrogance displayed by the opposition that led to their defeat to Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
He shared on X, "The painful thing about the opposition in Nigeria is that it appears they didn’t learn anything from the last election and there is still a lot of arrogance in them.
"I watched ElRufai speaking with so much confidence that Tinubu cannot win re-election and I just laughed. Tinubu is not Buhari or GEJ.
"To defeat Tinubu, you need more than a coalition. What steps are the opposition taking to stop people like Kwankwaso, Yari and other major stakeholders from working with Tinubu?
"Even the social media opposition children are still divided and insulting each other online. By now, Kwankwaso and others should have keyed in 100% and a new party should have been registered, etc. But what do I know sef?"
