The Imole Campaign Council says it has taken note of recent security developments in Osun State aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the good people of Osun and the peaceful conduct of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
It described the police arrest of notorious thugs as a step in the right direction and a sign of the return of law and order to our good state.
According to the spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, last Thursday in Abuja, he submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, urging him to deploy a tactical team to end politically motivated killings, arrest the masterminds, protect the people of Osun, and restore peace in the state.
"I'm delighted at the swift response of IGP Disu, as what followed that petition was the combined visit of the Deputy Inspector General of Police supervising the Southwest Zone, Adegoke Fayoade; and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, to Osun. The police top brass gave the right orders, and we are seeing the results in real time.
"I want to commend the IGP for his swift response to ridding our state of criminality and gangsterism. With feet on the ground, and the ongoing arrests of perpetrators of crime, the people of Osun have the confidence to go into the August election in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of fear of violence, intimidation or coercion," Olajengbesi said.
He said the IGP's swift response has demonstrated that the police will uphold law and order at all times and that the people's safety is guaranteed.
He said the morale of Osun people is further boosted by the IGP's swift response to securing lives and property, and they are encouraged to troop out en masse to cast their votes on August 15, 2026.
