Adeboye never called off any planned protest, not silent on insecurity - RCCG

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has debunked claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, called off a planned protest.

According to the church, Adeboye only communicated the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria's instruction to RCCG members about the updated plan to hold the grand finale of the Three-Day Prayer Program at a centralised venue and to hold a rally around it. It said this was communicated by PFN to all PFN churches in Nigeria.

RCCG also dismissed claims that Adeboye intentionally keeps quiet on the happenings in Nigeria, clarifying that the clergyman has on several occasions spoken about national issues such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for righteous leadership. The church said he, however, often chooses the language of moral guidance, prayer, and counsel rather than partisan political confrontation.

The church further dismissed claims that Adeboye campaigned for the government in power, clarifying that he has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties, as members of the Church are members of various political parties.

Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts.

The church added, "The Redeemed Christian Church of God has designated channels and authorised representatives responsible for communicating official positions on behalf of the Church. Therefore, before accepting, sharing, or amplifying any claim concerning Pastor E.A. Adeboye or The RCCG, verify it through our official public relations platform.

"If a claim is not communicated, verified, or endorsed through RCCG’s official communication channels, it should not be regarded as an official position of the Church.

"To bloggers, commentators, media platforms, and content publishers: this serves as a clear notice. Accuracy is not optional. Responsible journalism requires verification. Going forward, any publication concerning Pastor E.A. Adeboye or The RCCG should be properly fact-checked through the Church’s official PR platform before being presented as fact.

"The public deserves the truth, not speculation. The Church deserves fairness, not distortion. Pastor Adeboye deserves accuracy, not manufactured narratives. Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters."
