A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adamu Garba, has called for a state of emergency in Udunne Efandion community of Utomi, Edo State, after videos surfaced showing jungle justice carried out on alleged kidnappers.
The video showed angry youths mobbing the suspects with clubs and other dangerous instruments.
The suspects, who were beating to unconsciousness, were then gathered and set ablaze using tyres and petrol.
Reacting, Garba said the deceased were Hausa travellers, just as he called the attention of Governor Monday Okpebholo to the situation.
He wrote on X, "If there is any place that needed urgent state of emergency right very this moment is Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Edo State.
"The butchers of that community MUST be held to account for killing innocent Hausa travelers. They were killed fasting , while on their way back home for sallah holiday,
"Mr. Governor @m_akpakomiza should deploy all necessary measures and resources to ensure that those butchers are fished out and punished."
