The Nigerian Police Force has reacted to a viral report revealing the torture and death of a mechanic by its operatives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
As reported by MyNigeria.com, members of the River State Police Command, Mile 1 Police Station, reportedly arrested a mechanic, Chima and 4 of his colleagues for driving against traffic during the Yuletide.
Instead of administering the appropriate punishment to him and his colleagues, they chose to arrest all five mechanics instead; with the aim of extorting money from them after finding out the huge amount of money they possessed.
In the process, they killed one of them, Chima Ikwunado while inflicting the rest with deep cuts after an excruciating torture session.
The Police Complaint Response Unit who reacted to the incident said action had been taken on the case the previous week, as well as interviews conducted.
Good morning, action was taken on this case last week and the officers concerned are on their way to interview O/C CRU Abuja.
