Nigerians are to abide by visa rules of countries they reside, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa has said.

She made this statement after receiving two Nigerians, Adams John and Victor Obialu, who were stranded in Kenya as a result of irregular migration and visa overstay in Abuja on Friday.

Their return was facilitated by Nigerians NIDCOM as contained in a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head, Media and Public Relations Unit NIDCOM.

The duo were detained for eight months in Kenya for over-stay and urged the Federal Government to look into the relationship between the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya and the Kenyan authorities.

In Kenya, visa expiry attracts six months imprisonment or a $2500 fine.

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa while receiving them at the Airport, urged Nigerians traveling abroad to ensure their international documents are up-to-date.

She also thanked the government of Kaduna State for the swift response on the matter.
