The Abia State Government, in collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has extended an invitation to Turkish investors to explore the vast business and investment opportunities available in the state.
Special Adviser on Investment, Promotion and Public-Private Partnership to Abia Governor Jerome Greene-Anakwe made this announcement ahead of the upcoming Abia-TURKIYE investment summit scheduled for November 25-27, 2025, in Umuahia, Abia State.
Greene-Anakwe noted that Abia State has put in place mechanisms to ensure that businesses and investments thrive, making it an attractive destination for investors. He observed that Turkey and other European countries need investment opportunities, and with Nigeria’s large population, there are numerous opportunities for businesses to flourish.
“Turkey and other European countries are looking for opportunities, and those opportunities are bound in Africa, especially in Nigeria,” Greene-Anakwe said. “With our population, there are quite a lot of things that we can do, but most of our sub-regional governments have not created a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.”
The investment summit aims to provide an opportunity for international and local investors to explore possibilities in Abia State, showcasing the many advantages and business opportunities across key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, agro-processing, textiles, fashion, and leather works, among others.
“The summit will strengthen bilateral relations between Turkey, Abia, and Nigeria at large,” Greene-Anakwe added. “We intend to showcase products and services to the dynamic African market and provide opportunities for business-to-business meetings to connect investors, exporters, and local entrepreneurs.”
President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, pledged the chamber’s continued support for homegrown initiatives to attract investors, emphasising the importance of prioritising and patronising made-in-Africa products.
“As a Chamber of Commerce, we have long chosen the mantra, Buy Africa, build Africa,” Obegolu said. “It is only by buying made-in-Africa products that we can build Africa. We must support every homegrown initiative to attract investments that will develop our manufacturing capacity in Nigeria and Africa.”
The ACCI president expressed the chamber’s duty to support the investment summit in Abia State as a trade promotion and impact-making endeavour, adding that the initiative will promote trade cooperation and strategic joint ventures.
