Abia tribunal verdict: APGA chieftain reveals Alex Otti's next line of action -

Chief Nwaka Inem, a chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) and a member of the 2019 APGA Governorship Election Campaign Team, has revealed next action of Dr. Alex Otti, following the dismissal of his petition seeking to sack Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Otti was the governorship candidate of APGA in the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election conducted in Abia.

DAILY POST recalls that the three-man panel of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, and chaired by Justice A.L. Ogumoye, dismissed the petition filed by the 2019 APGA gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Alex Otti against the declaration of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The tribunal ruled that the petitioner failed to prove the case of over-voting, non-compliance to the INEC election guideline and electoral act.

However, Chief Inem, who is a known close ally of Alex Otti, in a press conference in Umuahia, Tuesday, disclosed that the APGA gubernatorial candidate will appeal the judgment of Justice A.L Ogumoye-led Abia Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which affirmed Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as duly elected governor of the State during the March 9 general election.

He stated that Otti was prepared and ready to go all the way to the supreme court in his move to seek justice, as well as liberating Abia State from alleged PDP misrule.

“On the Governorship tribunal judgement, we take it as a three-legged match, with the first leg played at the home turf of our opponents who unsportsmanly use all unorthodox coercive techniques to unfairly win a match forgetting that such tactics might not be available at the second and third leg of the game.

“We are stronger and more than ready to test the law up to the Supreme court. Dr. Alex Otti and supporters are very high in spirit, because we are fighting a just cause for the liberation and progress of Abia politically and economically”.

On the olive branch extended to Alex Otti and APGA by Governor Ikpeazu, Chief Inem added, “The call is laughable and insincere in all ramifications. The excuse of distraction for non-performance is infantile as it cannot explain the relatively poor results of governance the people of Abia are enduring.

“All I know, we cannot go on like this for long. The struggle is a legitimate way of recovering our state from years of plundering and mismanagement of our resources, not to talk of the negative and primitive narratives that is not in our character, and been written by PDP on Abia state and our people”.
