Abia Assembly moves against cultists, presents bill to prohibit possession of offensive weapons

The Abia State House of Assembly, Tuesday, passed for first reading, a bill to prohibit Secret Cult and Similar Activities, possession and Use of Offensive Weapons 2020.

The bill was sponsored by the House Majority leader and member representing Obingwa constituency, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

Also, the Ad-Hoc Committee on H.A.B 4: The Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board Bill,2019 has presented its report to the house during its plenary session.

With the motion of the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Paul Tharibo, Hon. Thomas Nkoro, a representative of the Ad-Hoc Committee presented the report.

The Ad-Hoc Committee recommended passage of the Bill after amendment of the Title of the Bill to Abia State University Teaching Hospital Bill.

The house adopted the report as a working document of the Abia State House of Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, however committed the report to the House Committee of the Whole for further legislative action on a future legislative date.
