APC chieftain Odu Onyeka says only unity will produce Igbo president in 2023

An APC chieftain in Anambra state, Odu Onyeka, has revealed what will make the Igbo presidency possible in 2023

Onyeka said the entire southeast must unite to achieve the 2023 presidential ambition

The APC chieftain said if the party can get it right in Anambra, the southeast will unite for the common goal in 2023

Ahead of the much-talked-about 2023 presidential election, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southeast, Odu Onyeka, has said only unity can ensure an Igbo candidate emerges the president.

The Nation reported that Onyeka said this on Monday, September 14, in Awka, Anambra state, when he played host to the party's leadership led by Acting Chairman Basil Ejidike and the 21 local government chairmen.

Onyeka told the APC chieftains to work as one, saying if Anambra APC got it right, the entire southeast would unite.

He said the parley was part of moves to unite members ahead of 2021 governorship election.

Meanwhile, a political movement named BAT 23 has been launched in Abuja to mobilise support for Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Though he has not officially declared his interest, there have been repeated speculations that the former Lagos governor is eyeing the number one seat in the country on the platform of the APC.

The new political movement's national coordinator, Umar Inusa, said the group consisted of Tinubu’s supporters who were drawn from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In another report, a group identified as South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has called on former Lagos state governor, Tinubu, to jettison his rumoured plan to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Leaders of the group urged Tinubu to support the emergence of a president of Igbo extraction in the 2023 presidential polls.

The group said everything short of electing an Igbo as president in 2023 would be regarded as a rejection and asking Igbo to leave Nigeria.
