APC appoints Hilliard Eta as acting national chairman in Ajimobi's absence

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the appointment of Hilliard Eta as the party's acting national chairman in the absence of former Oyo governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

MyNigeria.com reported earlier that the party's National Working Committee ratified Ajimobi as the Acting National Chairman, thereby revoking Victor Giadom's self-installation on same post.

Recall that Giadom, who is the party's Deputy National Chairman, declared himself the Acting National Chairman after the supreme court upheld the suspension of the previous occupant of the post, Adams Oshiomhole.

However, after hours of ups and down, the party announced its final decision via its official Twitter account.

In the statement signed the party's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the NWC agreed to "unanimously appointed the Party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Prince Hilliard Etta to act on Sen. Ajimobi’s behalf" due to the latter's "unavoidable absence".

MyNigeria.com gathered that Ajimobi is currently in critical conditions in a Lagos hospital due to complications from COVID-19, as reported yesterday. No update has been given since.
