AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles predicted lineup vs Rwanda

Super Eagles lineup Super Eagles lineup

The Super Eagles will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign when they take on Rwanda in their second game.

After a remarkable 3-0 victory at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium against Benin, the three-time African champions will face the Wasps of Rwanda at the Stade Amahoro later today (Tuesday, September 10).

Interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, who is in charge of the team for the two qualifiers is expected to deploy the same 3-4-3 formation against Rwanda with a few changes in personnel.

Let's explore how Eguavoen will set up his team ahead of this crucial encounter as highlighted by Soccernet.ng.

Goalkeeper

Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will undoubtedly start between the sticks for the Super Eagles ahead of Udinese's Maduka Okoye.

Defenders

Austin Eguavoen is likely to opt for the same back three of Williams Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey. The trio started against Benin Republic in Uyo and was quite solid at the back.

Midfielders

Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is expected to replace Alex Iwobi. The dynamic midfielder’s energy and forward runs could provide the Super Eagles with the creativity needed to unlock Rwanda’s defence.

Frank Onyeka is also expected to replace Wilfred Ndidi, who requested for a substitution during the game against Benin Republic.

The duo will be flanked by Ola Aina and Bruno Onyemaechi who will be deployed as wing backs.

The sensational Ademola Lookman and AC Milan's Samuel Chukwueze are expected to maintain their positions upfront. However, Victor Osimhen is likely to replace Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface as the centre forward.

The new Galatasaray striker scored from a superb volley after coming off the bench against Benin.

Predicted XI:

Nwabali; Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey; Aina, Dele-Bashiru, Onyeka, Onyemaechi; Chukwueze, Osimhen, Lookman.
