The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has explained that ongoing maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, is the reason for the blackout in parts of Abuja.
The company disclosed this in a notice on Monday.
The DisCo stressed that TCN is carrying out maintenance at the Katampe Transmission Substation on the 1st and 2nd of December 2025, which led to the disruption of bulk electricity supply to several areas in Abuja.
According to AEDC, the outage affected areas such as Bwari, Living Faith Church, Dutse Makaranta, Dutse Bokma, Military Pension Board, Jigo Community, Peyi Community, Ushafa, War College Quarters, Sabongari, Law School, and GSS Dutse.
Other areas affected are Customary Court, part of Jahi, Kado Fish Market, part of Lifecamp, Karmo, part of Idu, Total Marbles, Airy Gas, D&T, Sabon Wuse, Dikko, Fed Min of Works and Housing, Mabuchi Village, VIO, Back of AT4, and Kubwa.
Also, Extension, Chikakore Community, Dantata Estate, Lita Farms, Royal Champion Church, Jiwa, Saburi 182, Kaduna Road, Zuba, Dakwa, Federal Housing Estate Zuba, Tungan Maje, Dutse Alhaji, Sokale, and environs are affected.
“This maintenance exercise is part of our continued efforts to enhance service reliability and improve power supply to your community,” AEDC said.
