ADC criticises Tinubu’s leadership amid birthday celebrations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has delivered a pointed message to President Bola Tinubu on his 74th birthday, highlighting the country’s ongoing economic and security struggles.
In a statement shared via his 𝕏 account, ADC National Publicity Secretary Malam Bolaji Abdullahi criticized the president’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, saying it has instead led to hardship and uncertainty for many Nigerians.

Abdullahi cited rising fuel prices and worsening insecurity as key challenges under the current administration, noting that Nigeria has climbed to fourth on the Global Terrorism Index, with thousands of lives lost to violence.

He further expressed concern over the government’s response to insurgency, arguing that language used by officials often downplays accountability for perpetrators, while families continue to suffer.

While acknowledging that birthdays are a time for reflection, Abdullahi urged President Tinubu to take governance more seriously, calling for decisive action to address economic strain, insecurity, and political concerns.

“Happy Birthday, Mr. President. As you mark another year, Nigerians reflect on a presidency whose impact is impossible to ignore. Fuel prices have surged nearly 500%, insecurity has intensified, and political freedoms are under strain. We pray that the coming year brings a renewed commitment to leadership, accountability, and the well-being of Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
