Dino Melaye has responded to critics who have described him as a comedian who isn't fit for any major political office.

The former Kogi Central Senator has been heavily criticized within and outside the party after he won the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the party in the Kogi election slated for November 11.

While Governor Nyesom Wike has described his emergence as a joke, A former deputy governor of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi described Melaye’s votes as products of a “tainted delegates list.”

Responding to his critics, Dino Melaye who was a key member of the Atiku/Okowa campaign says he doesn't intend to tone down his theatrics. Citing the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he said the comedian has done what General and Field Marshals can't do as they fight back against Russia's Vladimir Putin.

He said: "My side attraction, my social media presence is a strength and not a weakness and I will not depart from it. On Twitter today, I have over 3.5 million followers, on Instagram, I have over 2.5 million followers, on my page on Facebook, I have over 8 to 9 million followers."

"So I want tell you that for me, it's a tool for good communication and I am going to use that social media to become a platform for interaction with the youth and women of this country."

"People say it's comedy, but the president of Ukraine is a comedian but he has done what field Marshals and Generals will not do. Nigerians should stop talking about side attractions because they have nothing to do with the magnitude or intensity of your productivity or capacity or capability as the case may be."
