'80% are innocent' - Sorrowful video of inmates awaiting trial causes stir online

A major setback to the nation's justice system is the increase in pre-trial detainees in the prisons.

As they wait for a trial that either never begins or, when it does, seems to go on forever, Awaiting Trial Inmates (ATI) are left to their fate.

Following its appearance on social media, a despondent video of some prisoners awaiting trial has elicited a wide range of responses from internet users.

As the meals were not appetizing, it was evident from the video that the prisoners were not eating a decent, balanced diet or even satisfying themselves.

The convicts are struggling with congestion as a result of being packed into cells like sardines, in addition to health and food issues.

Many people on social media lamented the conduct, saying it was demeaning and that the majority of those involved were probably innocent of all allegations.
