Sixty more Nigerians have been kidnapped in Zamfara State on Thursday, March 4, 2021, after armed bandits stormed the Ruwa Tofa village.

The recent abduction comes days after 317 students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talatu-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara were freed.

Details from Ruwa Tofa remain sketchy at the time of filing this report, however, a source who spoke to TVC News said half of the town was razed by fire.

The source said houses, cars, and farms in the town were set ablaze.

The community leader and his four wives were abducted during the raid.

Zamfara State has been in the news for the wrong reason since the turn of the year.

While Nigerians have called out the government for doling out cash to the bandits, elements within the state government revealed that cash was paid to secure the release of the girls.

This is not the first time the country has been hit with such abductions. The country has experienced several high-profile abductions including the Chibok abduction in 2014, Dapchi in 2018, Kankara in 2020, Kagara, and Jangede in 2021.
