6 lessons Nigerians must learn from controversy facing President Tinubu's academic records

A social media user with the handle @General_Oluchi has highlighted six lessons Nigerians must learn from the controversy facing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's academic records from the Chicago State University.

President Tinubu has been forced to defend his academic records following his emergence as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress late last year.

While his political opponents used the controversy as a tool to dent his public image, the APC and the presidency have stood firm and in some instances showed pieces of evidence that the president is an alumnus of the school.

Following the new revelation by a classmate of the president that he attended the university with him, @General_Oluchi has encouraged Nigerians in detail to take seriously on their academic record.

She said on X (formerly called Twitter): "There’s a lot to learn from Tinubu's story"

1) Ensure that your school is/was accredited.

2) Check your credentials and ensure they reflect your academic discipline and the courses you took.

3) Obtain original copies of your certificate by mail, not just a digital copy. Ensure they are signed and stamped!

4) Connect with your former classmates and request group pictures you took.

5) As parents, ensure that you are keeping your children’s records safe.

6) Don’t dismiss misspellings. Demand a correction immediately.
