Report indicates that 59 medical doctors working with Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, have resigned from the Nasarawa state government.

Giving reasons for their withdrawal of service, the aggrieved doctors mentioned the non-implementation of hazard allowances and poor condition of service over the last three months.

About 20 of the disgruntled doctors have been reported to have relocated abroad while 39 resigned due to the poor working conditions.

A top government official in DASH who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the situation.

He revealed that within a period of two days, they received over 25 resignation letters from doctors.

Reacting to the development, the president of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Nasarawa state, Dr Yakubu Adeleke, said:

“Doctors in Nasarawa state have been stagnated. No promotion. Some doctors have been working for eight years without promotion.”

Dr Adeleke displeased by the incident, said the recent massive resignation would put more pressure on the state’s health system.

Speaking to some of the doctors in the state, they claim they had run out of patience.
