5 things you don’t know about ex-Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari

In the earliest hours of this morning, Chief of Staff to Buhari, Abba Kyari was pronounced dead.

This was disclosed in a tweet by the President's media aide, Garba Shehu.

MyNigeria.com gathered that he died Friday, April 17, 2020, after a long battle with coronavirus.

Following his death, notable people have mourned Buhari's right-hand man, saying a lot of things about him.

Here are five things you do not yet know about Buhari's former Chief of Staff.



He was born on 23 September 1952, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Warwick, and also received a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Cambridge

Kyari worked for the law firm, Fani-Kayode and Sowemimo for some time after his return to Nigeria.

Kyari was an executive director in charge of management services at the United Bank for Africa and was later appointed the chief executive officer. In 2002, he was appointed a board director of Unilever Nigeria and later served on the board of Exxon Mobil Nigeria.



Kyari was married to the sister-in-law of Ibrahim Tahir, and had four children. Ibrahim Tahir who died on December 9, 2009, was a Nigerian sociologist, writer, and politician during the Second Republic and a prominent member of the Kaduna Mafia.

Kyari had underlying health problems, including diabetes, and was alleged to have asthma which made his recovery from coronavirus very difficult. In addition to this, he was honoured as Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
