5 presidential aspirants affected by the resolution of Southern Governors

The resolution by the 17 Southern Governors insisting the next president should come from the South has triggered applause in the region.

The governors met for the second time in Lagos State after an initial one was held in Asaba, Delta state.

The decision, should it be implemented, will end the presidential ambitions of some top politicians from the North.

“The Forum reiterates its commitment to the politics of equity, fairness and unanimously agrees that the presidency of Nigeria be rotated between southern and northern Nigeria and resolved that the next president of Nigeria should emerge from the southern region.”

Here is a list of some key politicians in the North that have shown interest in contesting the 2023 presidential election. They have indicated their interest directly or by proxy.

2. Former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso

3. Governor Yahaya Bello Governor

4. Aminu Tambuwal Governor Bala Mohammed

5. Former governor Ahmed Sani Yarima.
