3 reasons why Igbos should dump Kanu and give Dokubo a chance with Biafra

Recently, another group was added to the number of groups agitating for the sovereignty of Biafra.

Biafra Customary Government (BGC), was formed recently following the unprecedented fire that gutted the leadership camp of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).

Allegedly, there was an unprecedented fallout between the leaders of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and Uche Mefor after the latter accused the former of financial misappropriation and other activities that are against the policies of the group.

As the Igbos were still managing to come to terms with the recent crisis in IPOB's camp, another group emerged. The Biafra Customary Government (BGC) was formed by the former leader of Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo.

The emergence of this new group has unarguably thrown the Southerners into a pool of confusion and indecision concerning which group they should follow. This will inevitably be a crucial and important decision for the Southerners considering the monumental achievements of Nnamdi Kanu in the region.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the famous Independent People Of Biafra, has been a reputable activist, who has strived impossibly much to give hope again to the people of Biafra. He succeeded in setting up a security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN), in the region and has also created a lot of awareness Internationally and locally about Biafra.

With these, it will be undeniable that no person will spare a look at the new group. But, it is still necessary that the Igbos should weigh the potentialities of this new group before making a decision.

Objectively, the new group, Biafra Customary Government (BGC), should be considered ahead of IPOB because of these reasons.

- Uche Mefor emerging as head of information and communications for the BGC

It is still surprising if not shocking how a former deputy chairman should be a principal office holder in the board of BGC. Uche Mefor, the former deputy chairman of IPOB, has identified himself as the head of information and communications for the BGC. This is undoubtedly a very big boost for the new group because Uche Mefor is as wealthy in experience just like Kanu when it comes to the things of Biafra.

- Asari Dokubo is a well known political figure

Asari Dokubo is a well known political figure, who perfectly understands the political climate of the country. The self-acclaimed leader was the president of Ijaw Youth Council before founding the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force. Asari enjoys dual citizenship just like Kanu as he has attained the level of citizenship in the Benin republic.

- BGC is less violent that IPOB

BGC are not violent and filled with hatred like Kanu. They are so much into the development of the south. This was exemplified in their media briefing as they maintained that the injustice and marginalization against the Igbos will be taken care of.

From an excerpt of the news published by Punch, they said: "securing the lives and properties of our people; we are going to invest everything we have in science and technology to increase the scientific and technological discoveries, fabrications and making life easier for our people through science and technology."

It is quite evident that this group is driven by the quest to develop the south and not by hatred against the Fulani people. They successfully identified the necessity of technology and science to the development of the south. It is therefore very necessary that a chance should be given to this group to prove what they have said.
