Nigerian music icon, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has sparked massive reactions online after celebrating a major double milestone, his 50th birthday and 25 years on stage.
To commemorate the occasion, the award-winning singer released a heartfelt open letter expressing deep gratitude to the people who have contributed to his growth throughout his music journey.
In his message, 2Baba noted that his success story is not his alone but one built on the support, belief, and sacrifices of many who stood with him from the beginning.
He wrote: “As I stand on the threshold of 25 years in this incredible journey called music, my heart is full of gratitude, memories, lessons, and love. This celebration belongs to everyone who played a role in shaping the story of Innocent Idibia — 2Baba.
The music veteran went on to specially acknowledge those who played defining roles in his rise to stardom.
He hailed Nelson Brown, praising him as the first industry figure to believe in the dream of Plantashun Boiz when they were still unknown:
“You gave us a voice when we barely had a microphone. You believed in a vision that eventually helped redefine Nigerian music.”
2Baba also celebrated Baba Keke and D1, crediting them for giving him his first professional record deal.
“We made history together. You opened doors that led us from dreams to destiny.”
Addressing his former group members and longtime collaborators, Blackface and Faze, the singer emphasized that their legacy with Plantashun Boiz remains unforgettable:
“Our story will never be complete without you. We had our differences, but the roots we planted together still bear fruit. The world will always remember what we built.”
From his wife and family to friends, colleagues, fans, and supporters across the globe, 2Baba expressed profound appreciation, noting that every milestone in his career has been influenced by people who believed and stood by him.
As the African Queen crooner marks 25 years of timeless hits, cultural impact, and global influence, he reminds the world that his legendary journey is a shared victory.
However, the post didn’t sit well with many fans, as some questioned which of his wives he was referring to when he praised the woman who stood by him.
