Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a Former Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, has lamented that members of the coalition against President Bola Tinubu are attempting to oust the current government after just being out of power for two years.
Speaking on Arise TV, Baba-Ahmed reminded them that they had been in power for 24 years and should not be the same forces crying and shouting about governance.
He also recalled that one of the coalition members, former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, was recently in bed with the same government until he fell out with it.
He said, "I'm still gasping for air. I remember Nasir ElRufai dancing his eyes around, saying if the heavens come to earth, Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be sworn in as President. I remember him walking out of the Senate... I remember that there is a security file on him; he can't be a minister. I remember that less than a year later, he wanted to kick out...
"I remember everything between El-Rufai and many other leaders whom he now goes and kneels down before to greet again. I'm gasping for air; I don't understand what is going on. There are people who have been in government for 24 years, and they've been out for only 2 years, yet they are crying and shouting that we must throw this government out.
"I have been in parliament only four years and eight months, and I'm as happy as I can be. I believe I can defeat President Tinubu very comfortably. I have never been in the executive and I have never issued government contracts. Except they want to lie against me. I take people to the EFCC, but they don't take me to the EFCC.
"I agree with the coalition and the principle behind it, but let’s not get consumed by the excitement. Everyone is still playing Tinubu's game."
Other members of the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate and ex-Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, among others.
