2027: Governors want Tinubu to win because states are making money, says Omojuwa

Social commentator, Japhet Omojuwa, has said part of the reason why a sizeable number of the governors prefer President Bola Tinubu to return is because of his "quiet restructuring that continues to emphasise devolution.:

According to Omojuwa, who shared on X, the restructuring benefits not only the country but also the states and local governments.

He said the governors are already seeing the effects in their states’ accounts.

"The real challenge for those who would rather these governors aren’t aligned with the president is that it has gone beyond just politics and rhetoric.

"The president’s reforms are empowering the states, and the governors are seeing it. You have to do more than talk to switch their minds.

"Beyond self-interest, which cannot be ruled out, there is enough evidence to suggest that if it were just down to the economic interest of the states, 36 of them would endorse Bola Tinubu. That all 36 won’t is because of self-interest," he said.

MyNigeria reported that President Bola Tinubu recently assented to four tax reform bills passed by the National Assembly.

The four bills: the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill, were passed by the National Assembly after extensive consultations with various interest groups and stakeholders.
