The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, has tipped Nigeria to defeat DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup playoff final on Sunday.

Rohr, however, cautioned the Super Eagles to be wary of their opponents.

Incidentally, the Franco-German tactician had predicted that the two teams would meet in the final.

Nigeria needed extra time to overcome Gabon 4-1, while DR Congo secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon. They will now face each other for the chance to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoffs.

“Of course, Nigeria is the favourite but they must be careful,” Rohr told The Nation.

He added: “Congo has a physically strong team and are dangerous on set pieces like they showed against Cameroon with good physical and mental strength.”
