2026 WCQ: Troost-Ekong assures Nigerians ahead of Lesotho clash

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has assured Nigerians that the team will leave no stone unturned in their bid to secure the FIFA World Cup ticket.

The three-time African champions are currently three points behind Benin Republic and South Africa, who sit first and second in Group C respectively, with two matches left to play.

Eric Chelle's side will face the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, on Friday, October 10.

The 2023 AFCON finalists will later host Benin Republic in the last game of the qualifiers four days later.

Nigeria will need to win both games and hope that South Africa and Benin Republic drop points to have any chance of qualification.

Speaking ahead of the two crucial encounters, Troost-Ekong vowed that the team will go all out.

“We’re optimistic and we’re always going to fight till the end,” Troost-Ekong told the Super Eagles media.

“We believe and we’re never going to stop believing. Two important games — Friday, the first one, and after that we get back to Nigeria. Our focus now is on Lesotho.”
