France Football magazine has unveiled new voting criteria for the prestigious 2025 Ballon d'Or awards.

On Monday, May 19, the organizers announced that this year's ceremony will take place on Monday, September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

As excitement builds toward the event, French publication L’Équipe has released the criteria for this year's edition.

According to L’Équipe, the three key voting criteria will be:

1. A player’s individual performances on the pitch.

2. Collective success in terms of titles and trophies won at both club and international levels.

3. Sportsmanship and fair play.

This year's edition promises to be one of the most thrilling awards galas in recent history, with no clear-cut favorite emerging.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the five frontrunners for this year’s award include Barcelona’s trio—Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Pedri González—alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé and Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.

Manchester City's Rodri won the award last year after beating Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior to the prestigious honor.
