Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali could miss the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after sustaining injuries.

According to widespread reports, the 29-year-old is nursing both an ankle injury and a hand injury.

Chippa United head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, however, revealed that the former Enyimba goalkeeper is working hard to be fit in time for the tournament.

“I don’t think he will make it, but when I was talking to him, he was confident that he will recover very soon,” Vilakazi was quoted as saying by SuperSport.

Nwabali was reportedly struggling with the injuries during the 2026 World Cup playoffs last month.

The Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper has not featured for Chippa United since returning from the playoff fixtures.

Nwabali firmly established himself as Nigeria’s No. 1 following his impressive performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
