Nigerians have raised concerns over the sudden discord between tribes in the country following the events that unfolded during the 2023 general election.

Recall that prior to the 2023 election that took place on February 18, there was reports of discord between the Igbos and the Yoruba's in Lagos state.

Some Lagos indigenes claim that the Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour was not a Lagosian but from the Igbo tribe as he uses different names in his credentials.

It was then discovered that GRV's mother Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour is an Igbo woman Nkechi.

During the election, some thugs were also seen warning some Igbo residents in Lagos not to come out and vote in the Lagos gubernatorial election as they weren't true indigenes of Lagos.

This caused an uproar in some areas of Lagos with many expressing their displeased at the inter-tribal comments.

Reacting to this months later, some Nigerians believe that the inter-tribal marriages used to unite Nigerians in the past is now seen as a serious crime.

Others called for peace and unity among the Yoruba's and Igbos while some called for an end to inter-tribal marriages.

@ruffydfire: A lot of Yoruba people are happily married to Igbos. Gov Adeleke has a mixed parentage of Igbo and Yoruba. We need peace and unity, Make love not war.

@Chukwuemek87372: The last general election thought me a big lesson, it was beyond just election, but an eye opener to me. I saw the deep hatred and accumulated anger.

@AhuchaoguOgo: Bigotry is now a new vocabulary that the 2023 election has institutionalised in Nigeria. An inter-tribal marriage that has been a unifying factor in the past, is now viewed as a serious crime.

@oteessolutions1: Me, I am an igbo man and married to an Ijebu woman. It is the politicians who sow the seeds of discord and disunity among because of their selfish interests.

@osagie_adams: One thing citizens fail to understand is this,

until we unite and stop seeing our tribal or religious differences as a people,

that will be the day when we start making remarkable progress as a nation.

@ambassadors714: The Problem is us not our Tribe . One of best gifts i ever got from GOD, in form of a person was a wonderful YORUBA Lady.

but the system took her.... its the system that is against us all and the system is not a respecter of your tribe.

@JuujuGirl: Say no to Intermarriage it will save alot of drama. Alot of people thought after 2023 elections the tribal war will be over.

Well bad news the lesson have been learnt. Let's stop pretending I love everyone but intermarriage is not a healthy practice anymore. Let's stay safe
