APC APC

Various women groups from the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Gombe Central Senatorial District of Gombe State, have begged Sen. Danjuma Goje, to seek re-election in 2023.

The women made the call in Gombe, through their leaders, when they paid Sallah homage to Goje’s wife, Hajiya Aminatu Binani.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Goje, a third time senator, representing Gombe Central, had in 2019 announced his decision not to contest for re-electiion.

Mrs Rose Danjuma, APC Zonal Women Leader, Gombe Central Senatorial District, said the former Gombe governor had contributed to the development of the state and he was still doing so.

“We are feeling his impact across religious and ethnic divides, therefore we are saying no to his earlier decision.

“We do not have any candidate in Gombe Central, our loyalty and support is for him,” Danjuma said.

She said if the senator turned down their request, the women groups could take legal action to compel him to contest.

“We are the ones sending him, and so he cannot ignore the people,” she said.

According to her, many women in the district were already saying they would withdraw from politics if Goje refused to seek re-election in the 2023 General Elections.

“With the kind of empowerment our senator has been giving to our women, we can only trust him to continue, else we may boycott politics and retire from voting,” she said.

Hajia Lumbi Abubakar, APC State Women ]leader, said Goje’s interventions cut across Gombe and the entire North East Geopolitical Zone.
According to her, he is among the prominent persons who midwifed the birth of Gombe State, hence the call for him contest again and continue with his developmental strides.

Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed, APC Women Leader, Akko Local Government Area (LGA), said Goje was a grassroots politician, and his desire always was to address their plight.

“There is no better candidate than Goje, we are appealing to him to withdraw his earlier decision of not contesting for elective position in 2023.

Also speaking, Hajiya Nayi Pandaya, APC Women Leader, Yamaltu/Deba, said their loyalty remained with the veteran lawmaker, therefore they were calling on him to seek re-election in 2023.

“We say no to his earlier decision of not contesting for elective post again, we are appealing to him through his wife, to contest again,” Pandava said.

In her response, Binani thanked the women group for the visit.
She assured them that she would forward their request to her husband.
“My husband has assured me though, that ,even if he would not contest, he would continue to assist people,” she said.
