Director New Media of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode has defended Bola Tinubu's decision to absent himself from the Townhall meetings and presidential debates organized by various organizations ahead of the election in 2023.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV on Monday, November 14, the former Minister of Aviation noted that the presidential candidate of the APC will attend the events when he feels he is ready.

He also pointed out that most of the townhall meetings organized lately have been poorly organized, making reference to that organized by Arise TV.

"You know very well that Tinubu is been engaging in debates and town hall meetings. He did one in Minna, one in Nassarawa, and one in Lagos. These are discussions that had television cameras and crews."

"He is very good at that and will like to do that. Now there is a difference between a town hall meeting which is televised with a number of presidential aspirants or candidates there and a presidential debate. A debate is a debate and you have been doing that for years. We know what a debate is, but we have not had any debate yet, what we have are town hall meetings with various presidential candidates."

"Some of the programs organized have not gone too well. Look at the one organized by Arise TV where PDP thugs and Peter Obi and his Obidients were shouting, this does not encourage us to go to places like Arise for example."

"Tinubu will have to make that choice himself at any point in time and is the kind of person he is. That decision has to be left to him. We never say never to anything but at the same time, if and when he is ready, it has to be on his own terms and when he is ready and when he feels like the atmosphere is good."
