The President of the National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ghana Chapter, Comrade Ilo Ikenna Valentine has called on Nigerians to desists from inflammatory comments that could incite violence ahead of the general elections.

He made the comment in a statement addressed to MyNigeria from the chapters office in Accra on Friday, February 25.

With less than 24 hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the political temperature within the federation has been heightened as fuel scarcity and the controversy surrounding the new naira note lingers on.

Mr. Valentine who oversees the welfare of thousands of Nigerian students in Accra also urged eligible voters to be vigilant in the defense of their votes. He stressed that the non-partisan association will accept the will of Nigerians through the ballot.

Compatriots, as a patriotic son of Nigeria, I Congratulate us on the upcoming democratic exercise to elect new leaders of our nation across all level.

I congratulate us because for the first time in our history, we have enjoyed an uninterrupted democracy for 24 years and our nation is not at war.

I know that we have challenges just like every nations do, but we never give up.
This is the time to make our voices heard. The time to chose our future.

The National Association of Nigerian students in Ghana does not support any individual or party for office but we strongly support a Peaceful election.
We support an election that reflects the will of each and every one of us.

In the next coming days, I entreat you to exercise your democratic rights with all sense of patriotism and civility irrespective of the party you will vote for.

Your vote matters, your voices maters.

Our future matters.

We must remember that only a Nation at peace can experience growth and prosperity.
