There seem to be no end in sight to the internal wrangling in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as four governors in the party have threatened to dump the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

According to a report by The Nations, the governors have threatened to leave should the presidential candidate not accept the demands by party members seeking the resignation of National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Recall that the long-standing feud in the party rared its head when Atiku won the presidential primaries of the party. His victory in the polls meant the top two political positions in the party is being held by individuals of northern extraction.

Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies are demanding Ayu's exit before they will back Atiku's presidential bid.

Sources cited by the newspaper said Atiku was already considering giving in to Wike's demand. However, at least four PDP governors have also now threatened to leave him if Wike has his way regarding Ayu's exit.

The governors are:

- Governor Godwin Obaseki (Edo state).

- Governor Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa state).

- Governor Duoye Diri (Bayelsa state).

- Governor Darius Ishaku (Taraba state).

The four governors are reportedly backed by several notable party members in the evolving stand-off.
