Governor Dave Umahi says APC is the party of the southeast people

Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon address the growing clamours for the Igbo presidency come 2023.

The governor expressed this confidence on Wednesday, February 10, while addressing the press after meeting with the Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.

Umahi also berated people making "wrong personal views" on the issue of southeast producing the next president for the country.

He described APC as the only party that can grant the Igbo people's wishes, saying the ruling side will address the southeast's demands "as a family" affairs, This Day reports.

The governor also said, "APC is just coming on board in the southeast" and the people of the region must be ready to join the party and participate in its ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.

“It is a party affair. It is very wrong for any party person to make personal views on such matter. Party discipline requires that you sit down and discuss issues.

"You advance your reasons and another person will also advance his. And then the party as a family will take the position. Not even as a new member. Even if I am an old member, I will not like to comment.”

The Nigerian presidency has described a spurious lie flying in the face of fact the insinuation that President Muhammadu Buhari hates Igbo and "doesn’t believe in women’s capacity".

In a Twitter rant on Tuesday, November 17, Bashir Ahmad, an aide to the president on new media, stated that contrary to what has been mischievously posited about the president, he never abhorred Igbo, and those who were spreading the lies have now changed the narratives.

Ahmad explained as far back as 2011 when President Buhari threw the hat into the ring in his former party Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), he wanted an Igbo person as his vice president.
