2003, 2007 and 2011 presidential elections were massively rigged – Mamman Daura

Mamman Daura, nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that the People Democratic Party massively rigged the 2003, 2007 and 2011 presidential elections.

According to Daura, the consistent rigging during elections and the lack of trust in the electoral system caused Buhari to ‘break down’ during his presidential campaign in 2011.

He made this known in a documentary on the president titled “Essential Muhammadu Buhari”.

In 2011, Buhari mentioned that it was going to be his final attempt running for the office of president as he wiped tears from his eyes. “I will not present myself again for election into the office of the president,” Buhari said.

Daura on his part, claimed Buhari did not weep over defeat but in pity for failed electoral system. Adding that he knowns that three elections were rigged after he approached Buhari’s lawyer in 2007 and demanded for some states results.

The widespread rigging caused Buhari to merge with other political parties in 2013.

“…He gave me the one for Imo State. I went over the result carefully and I saw PDP, Yar’Adua – 25,000 votes and Buhari – 5,000, and so on. All round figures throughout. Even the winner of the election, Yar’Adua had said the election was faulty,” Daura added.
