1960 Independence Day celebration video pops up

A video has resurfaced of Nigeria's Independence Day celebration that took place in the year 1960.

This was the day Nigeria gained Independence from the British colony.

In the video the British monarch Queen Elizabeth II was represented by Princess Alexandra of Kent.

On this day, the Princess handed over Nigeria's constitution documents to the then Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Thousands of Nigerians gathered to witness the historic day of the country as there were dancing and lots of merry making on this special day.

There was also a beautiful dramatic display as Nigeria took over with its own green and white flag.
