One hundred and twenty-three inmates in Kano State have received a pardon from the Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

According to Governor Ganduje this gesture was done in the spirit of the Eid-El Fitr festivities.

The release which was carried out across the state was based on the magnitude of their crime and their behaviour whiles serving their sentence.

The governor who was present at the release of the inmates stated that the decision to visit the prison was to show the inmates that the state is aware of their existence.

Adding that the release was also to assist the government in reducing the congestion in the state's prisons.
Ganduje however, charged the freed inmates to change from their old ways and start life afresh with this new opportunity.
