Nigerians who are sympathizers of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election have expressed shock at the amount budgeted for the media as President Tinubu marks his 100 days in office.

The three-page document leaked by an unidentified investigative journalist and private investigator with the X handle "@Pidomnigeria" on Monday, September 4 indicated that the media office of the president will splash one hundred and fourteen million naira (114,000,000) for the event coverage.

"AsoRock has splashed One hundred and fourteen million naira (114,000,000) on media houses/journalists to mark Tinubu's 100 days in office, coming up by tomorrow September 5th, 2023. Don't be surprised when you see those sweet headlines, reports and reviews from different media houses and different journalists singing his praises, eulogizing him or rating him so high, despite his open abysmal failures," he wrote on X.

"Money has exchanged hands already. Taxpayers money," he confirmed.

The revelation has left Nigerians disappointed at a time when the country is struggling economically. It also comes days before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s verdict on cases challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the polls.

It is important to indicate that "@Pidomnigeria" is a known sympathizer of Peter Obi, who was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the same election.

The first 100 days of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration have been laced with praise and blame.

Upon Inauguration on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu vowed to revamp the economy with his renewed hope slogan.

But, the ripple effects of his economic policies leave Nigerians with a sweet and sour taste.
