Amokachi to serve as assistant to Amuneke as NFF is set to announce new Super Eagles technical team

The Nigeria Football Federation is set to announce the much-anticipated new technical team for the Super Eagles.

According to a report by OwngoalNigeria.com, the NFF will announce former internationals Emmanuel Amunike and Daniel Amokachi as head coach and assistant head coach respectively.

Amunike has reportedly received the backing of the sports senator, John Enoh and other senior government officials for the vacant role.

The former Barcelona winger is also said to have received support from other former internationals as the most suitable candidate to succeed Jose Peseiro.

The former Tanzania coach is reportedly the preferred candidate ahead of Finidi George after the NFF finally made the decision to hire a local gaffer for the three-time African champions.

The Super Eagles have been without a substantive coach since Portuguese gaffer Jose Peseiro left the role in February after the 2023 AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire.
