The Federal Government, on Thursday, said it was removing all exploration and production constraints in the oil sector as part of measures to tackle the divestments by international oil companies out of Nigeria.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, disclosed this while playing host to the leadership of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group, and the Oil Producers Trade Section at his office in Abuja.

Both groups paid Lokpobiri an official visit in-line with the minister’s engagements with agencies, commissions and stakeholders in the sector, according to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor.

In the statement, the minister assured his guests “of the Federal Government’s commitment to removing all bottlenecks hindering the ease of exploration and production in the Nigeria energy sector.”

The IPPG and OPTS teams were made up of their senior management officials, as well as those from oil companies, and were led by the President/Group Chief Executive Officer of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, Abdulrazaq Isa, and the Executive Director of OPTS, Gwueke Ajaifia.
