Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas has disclosed that the 136 kidnapped Tanko Salihu Islamiyya school kids Tegina, Rafi local government will soon be released.

This is coming barely a two days, after the Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, gave the government one week ultimatum to ensure the release of the kids or risk journalistic emergency by the media on the issue.

Kuryas,revealed this in Mariga local government area during a tour of duty to tactical teams and special formations across security affected areas in the state, said measures have been adopted to rescue the kids unharmed.

He explained that intelligence is on, even as the Police is doing its best to locate where the children are held hostage in order to rescue them.

“The children will be released very soon. Intelligence is everywhere, we are doing our best in trying to locate where these children are and by the grace of God, I can assure you that efforts are being put in place, both by the state government and the security agencies to see the release of these children.”

Expressing satisfaction over the security architecture of the state, he noted that the state government as well as his predecessor had done well in their efforts to bring terrorism, banditry and other criminal activies to its barest minimum.

“I have checked the security architecture of the state and I intend to improve upon what my predecessor had done.The state has done a lot to see that these violent crimes are reduced to the barest minimum”

“That is why I have embarked on this tour of duty to check my tactical team and to know the terrain of the state,” the commissioner observed.
