Actress cum filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi came under heavy criticism after she praised her friend and coworker Kehinde Bankole, who took home the Best Lead Actress award at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Some social media users conjectured that Toyin's admiration was a result of Funke Akindele, her rival, not winning any prizes.
It was a night of near-misses for Funke Akindele's 'A Tribe of Judah' as the movie did not receive a single nomination.
'A Tribe of Judah' did not win any awards, although it was nominated in several categories, such as Best Makeup, Best Writing in a Movie, Best Lead Actress, Best Movie, and Best Supporting Actor.
The movie lost to Breath of Life in the Best Picture category. This film made history by becoming the first Nollywood production to gross N1bn (one billion naira) within 21 days of its release.
